Dr Timothy O’Dwyer

Timothy has been the Head of Contemporary Music at LASALLE College of the Arts since 2009 and holds a PhD in music and philosophy from the Queensland University of Technology. He has had 30 years of experience leading and building non-for-profit arts organisations in Melbourne and Singapore including the Melbourne Improvisers Association, The Make It Up Club, CHOPPA Festival of Experimental Music, We Love Jazz, and SAtheCollective.

As a saxophonist and composer, he has toured extensively throughout Europe and the region with highlights including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Saitama Concert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. He has been a member of Australia’s leading contemporary music group ELISION Ensemble since 1994, collaborates with The Australian Art Orchestra, and is an artistic fellow of the Academy of the Arts of the World in Cologne, Germany. Timothy has released over 20 albums featuring his original work, and continues to be active with the Tim O’Dwyer Trio, his ‘soundpainting’ projects, and composing for concert performances.
